ORLY At London Fashion Week SS17

This London Fashion Week, we went where we’ve never gone before – fitting in five awesome shows packed with ORLY nails into our schedule. Here’s a lowdown of each of the different looks…

MIMI WADE

The Mirror Ball Nail

The Mirror Ball nail by Ami Streets for Mimi Wade SS17. Each model had white nails with a touch of silver glitter to give added texture and give the appearance of a mirror ball.

Ami says: “Sleek and minimalistic, white nails are set to be a huge trend again this coming spring summer 2017.  I added a touch of silver glitter over an opaque white colour to give an extra dimension of texture. Finishing with a high shine topcoat, the light reflects off the nails on the runway, giving the appearance of a mirror ball.  The perfect fun and summary nail look for SS17.”

Products used: ORLY EPIX Overexposed, ORLY Tiara Lacquer, ORLY EPIX Flexible Sealcoat.

MARKUS LUPFER

The Negative Geometric Nail

Each model had black or white lines applied to random nails giving everyone an individual look to mirror the ethos of the collection.

Nail tech, Ami Street says: “With these microscopic lines over a sleek, nude, peachy tone, it toughened up the polished nail for a striking look, giving a new and fresh take on the negative space nail. To finish, nails were give a high gloss topcoat for added shine.”

PIERS ATKINSON

The Bespoke Nude nail by Ami Streets for Piers Atkinson SS17. Nude nails to complement each model’s skin type.

Ami says: “Piers Atkinson wanted to ensure that all the models’ nails suited their skin tones, and so each girl had a different shade of nude applied.  ORLY has a variety of nude shades, which made it easy for me to match the correct nude for each model.  We used everything from porcelain shades to honey to caramel.”

FYODOR GOLAN

The Chandelier Nail

The Chandelier Nail by Sabrina Gayle for Fyodor Golan SS17. Model it’s a playful take on the traditional French manicure and set to be a huge trend for the upcoming spring summer 2017.

Sabrina says: “Fyodor Golan SS17 has combinations of neons, denims and dark blue hues in the collection, so I worked with the team to bring this to life in the nail look. Depending on the model’s outfits, I chose either a bright pink or a dusky rose as the base colour, finishing with a vibrant royal iridescent blue to create a reverse French manicure. The iridescent texture of the blue compliments the collection so well, as many of the jackets and skirts are holographic. As there was a lot of haberdashery in the Fyodor Golan studio, I decided to add crystals to some of the girls’ nails, by piercing the tips and handing them with miniature rings.”

Products used: ORLY EPIX Overexposed, ORLY EPIX Melodrama, ORLY EPIX Outtake, ORLY EPIX Sealcoat.

EMILIO DE LA MORENA

The Dual-Textured Shell Pink Nail

The Dual-Textured Shell Pink Nail by Ami Streets for Emilio de la Moreno SS17. Models had a two-toned nail to mirror the two-tones elements of the collection.

Ami says: “The Emilio del la Morena SS17 collection was inspired by the Spanish festival, Las Fallas.  A celebration of energy and colour, the clothes have plenty of embellishment, tailoring and texture, through lace, chiffon and silk.  Emilio wanted the beauty look to be natural, beautiful and elegant, but to bring out an element of texture, so I worked with him to create a cut-out, dual-textured nail.”

Products used: ORLY Matte Top Coat, ORLY Lift The Veil, ORLY Polishield.
